We will take the bike pathway into Albert Park/Radisson Heights Community to ride to the East African Family Day event underway at Unity Park 3111 17 Ave SE. Music. Art. Food.
You are encouraged to ride up and down International Avenue to the myriad of restaurants and shops. Drop into B&P Cycle in business in Forest Lawn for 40 years. There is a community garden in Albert Park and newly planted orchards in Dover and Forest Heights. The tour will also include a visit to the new Artboxon17E art space in vitro. Meet at the Bass Bus at 4:30 pm at 3111 17 Ave SE. for this tour within a tour.
The #1 bus will have bike racks on board to get you into the neighbourhood easily too.
This is a ride along a busy commercial avenue without a lot of bike lane support. (There are big plans for green trips into the area one day in the future). So, keep your biking wits about you and ride safe. Wear a helmet, big colours and show your love for East Calgary.
Oh, and wear sunscreen and bugspray - it's going to be a hot one!
