We will take side roads and neighbourhood streets to meander through downtown and the inner city to visit some of of Calgary's favourite grocers, ice creameries and coffee stops. We'll finish at a park to sit around and take in a lazy Sunday afternoon <3
** In light of the flood, we would like to take the ride along to local shops and grocers in support of local business after the flood.
We had originally planned a ride called "Lazy Sunday Shop Stop Ride & Picnic" for this Sunday, June 30, prior to the flood. It is still the same idea, but what has changed is that there has been a massive flood in Calgary last week that had affected local business and infrastructure. How this has affected the ride is that we will be riding through some affected areas and some not, and we will be able to survey some of the damage from a safe distance. What has not changed is that we will be supporting local businesses, and what makes this aspect even more potent during this time is that we will be supporting a few businesses that have been directly affected by the flood. We hope you can join us. We rode the route today, and it is a heartfelt, beautiful and fun ride that we hope you will enjoy. See you Sunday! **
Meet at 2pm at Central Memorial Park behind the library (enter the park from 2nd St and head behind the library), 2nd Street and 12th Ave SW. We will wait until 2:15 for late comers.
What to bring:
It is always a good idea to have proper attire for the weather and lights.
A blanket and snacks for your picnic
A bit of pocket change to put pick up extras for your picnic <3.
Route:
We’ll update this as we go, but expect to visit a few sweet spots for food and nicknacks around the city core! We will also end at a park so there’s a chance to hang out after the ride is done.
Have a favourite shop stop? Maybe we haven’t been there! Feel free to post suggestions as we develop the route.
