The Sprawl just turned one, and you're invited to our birthday party this Saturday, September 29!

It's a small way of celebrating all we've accomplished together since last September.

There are two components: a leisurely bike ride starting at 11 a.m. and an afternoon birthday bash at Dandy Brewing Company (2003 11 St S.E.) at 2 p.m.

Come to one or both as you please!

The ride will be equal parts pathway and roadway. It's a chance to experience Calgary in an in-depth way that invites observation and contemplation. Visit places from Sprawl stories (we'll trace the path of The Streetcar That Wasn't) and build community with fellow Sprawlers. Brett Bergie, a respected #yycbike leader and Sprawl supporter, will be our guide.

I'll have a few tales along the way as well. Think of it as a cross between a live podcast and a Jane's Walk.

The ride will begin at Eau Claire, in front of the YMCA, and travel by pathway up to International Avenue. We’ll enjoy a rest stop there before returning toward the core and ending the ride in Ramsay at Dandy.

Participants should expect 25-kms of cycling over varied terrain. This is a no drops ride; we ride at a pace that leaves no one behind.

Children are welcome at Dandy and RSVP is not required. Just show up!
